Coding
PracticeWizard® is distributed with all codes pre-built and available for installation into your system. A complete list of ICDM-9 codes also reside in the database. Much care has been taken in the setup and installation procedures in order to make the transition to PracticeStudio® as quickly and as easily as possible.
Financial classes, payment types, write-off codes, and supply items are included in addition to the charge and Dx codes. Of course all of these coding schemes may be changed or added to by authorized users providing a wealth of usability while maintaining flexibility.
CPT Rates
For each CPT code, the supervisor may establish a basic rate as well as rates that are dependent on the patient, treating doctor, financial class, or the insurance carrier. This provides a means to have rates established and the system to automatically record the correct fee without any operator intervention at posting time; thus, eliminating billing errors.
CPT Suspensions and Dx Restrictions
In some cases, an office visit charge may need to be "suspended" for a period of time (i.e. post-op visits). These conditions may be established in the CPT rate table to help prevent erroneous billing. CPT codes may also be "restricted" for use only with proper diagnosis codes.
Code O'Matic
This feature permits related CPT charges and CPT modifiers to be "grouped" under one particular Code O’Matic code. This enables the system to automatically post multiple charges with the entry of one simple code. Additionally, these codes will be posted in the designated order which helps in the proper reimbursement from carriers.
DxWizard®
Included in the practice management system is a completed diagnosis code reference database. This database includes a tabular list of all ICDM-9 diagnosis codes as well as look-up procedures for index to diseases, external causes, hypertensions, neoplasms, and drugs and chemicals.
A blazingly fast "fuzzy" search facility is included that enables the entire 14,000+ diagnosis code table to be queried in seconds. This "fuzzy" search feature has a phonetic engine which helps find the appropriate code regardless of correct spelling.
E/M Coding and EMR Interface
If PracticeWizard® is installed in conjunction with ChartPower®, the EMR portion of PracticeStudio®, then the E/M coding requirements may be checked during narrative creation. As the encounter narrative is created, the E/M bullets are calculated in the background. At any time, the E/M coding status for the encounter may be reviewed. The level of service that matches the current documentation of the encounter will help code to exact documentation standards. This helps eliminate the down-coding that is prevalent in many clinics. Since PracticeStudio® is a comprehensive Electronic Health Record, CPT and Diagnosis notations made during chart entry may be automatically updated to the billing system. This feature eliminates posting steps as well as prevents errors do to mis-posting.
